Nikos Chrysogelos


Nikos Chrysogelos is chair of the social cooperative ANEMOS ANANEOSIS /WIND OF RENEWAL, former Member of the European Parliament (2/2012-6/2014), vice-president of REGI Committee, Co-Rapporteur for the European Cohesion Fund for the programming period 2014-2020. Regional Councilor of South Aegean (2010-2014). Founding member of a number of environmental and social citizens initiatives and NGOs. Project manager of the WELCOMMON community model center for housing and social inclusion of refugees and vulnerable groups (9/2016-2/2018) and co-founder of the innovative WELCOMMON Hostel, a social experiment which combines a hostel for sustainable tourism  with activities promoting social inclusion, energy transition, climate protection, art and intercultural dialogue. President of the Board of MEDITERRANEAN SOS Network (1999-2009). Co-author of the survey report “Against Youth Unemployment by Fighting Climate Change – A Viability Study in Greece and Southern Spain”. Project manager of the program “Climate School  Be.At”, a 28-month project (2017–2019) aiming to augment the awareness of climate change and energy consumption in the school communities of the Municipality of Athens (MoA). Co-author of the policy paper “Energy poverty in Greece; Social and green innovation proposals to tackle the phenomenon”. Project manager of many european projects.  Certified trainer of trainers on environemental and social issues. Awarded with the European Citizen’ s Prize 2018.
